Shamanism and animism describe ways of seeing the world in which everything—people, animals, plants, places, even natural forces, has spirit and agency. Animism emphasizes relationship, encouraging reciprocity with the living landscape. Shamans act as intermediaries between realms to seek guidance, healing, and balance.

From a shamanic perspective, the source of all life is Spirit, and Spirit is present in all things.

When I work shamanically, I understand symptoms of illness not just through a psychological or physical lens, but as signs of spiritual imbalance. Whether someone is struggling emotionally, physically, or mentally, I turn to Spirit to help illuminate what’s happening beneath the surface.

What I Do

I work with compassionate guides/spirits in the unseen world to facilitate healing processes for individuals, families, environments.  These spirits offer guidance about the root causes of suffering and how to restore balance and vitality.

Some of the technologies and traditions that I have been trained in and use with clients include:

  • soul retrievals with children and adults including organ retrievals

  • power animal retrieval

  • spiritual integration of medicine/psychedelic work

  • curse (and thoughtform) unraveling

  • extraction work

  • psychopomp work (working with the dead)

  • clearings

  • creating ceremony

If these mean nothing to you, that’s okay too. What’s important is that you’re open to alternatives to healing that might be new to you!

  • I work with adults and children, of all ages.  Each stage of life brings different questions and challenges.  I love working with children, especially, and work with specific guides who also have a knack for working with them.  Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent many years working in a pre-school and trained extensively as a play therapist, and worked with children and families during and after getting my graduate degree. In addition, I’ve worked with Jennifer Hinton in assisting her in her Children’s Journey Circle offering.

Some common reasons adults might come for shamanic work:

Trauma/healing, greater depth of understanding of a particular pattern, experience or impact, a recurring thought/experience of being cursed, anxiety, depression, curiosity, chronic illness, desire to connect with loved ones who have died, wanting to complete/get greater closure with an experience, integration after a difficult (and/or profound) psychedelic experience

Some common reasons children might come for shamanic work

Trauma/healing, nightmares, anxiety, depression, illness, curiosity, desire to connect with loved ones who have died.

These are by no means complete lists but rather some of the many reasons folks may seek out shamanic work.

  • We begin with talking about what brought you to seek out shamanic work and answer any questions. Next, I will journey to get more information about what processes might need to occur next to facilitate the work and/or learn more.  Typically, I use drumming or rattling to connect with my spirit guides.  We will collaborate and communicate during the work.  We will end with integration work which may include me drumming or rattling over you, if that is something you are comfortable with.  You will leave with a clear idea about what next steps are, including any further integration work that is called for.

*Psychedelic medicines are not used in these particular sessions to journey

** Your consent is paramount to every step of this process. We will discuss boundaries and what is and is not okay for you in terms of touch, closeness, and other elements that may be involved in the work.  If you’re not comfortable with any aspect of what’s happening, let’s talk about it.  Often, there are workarounds to find different ways to get to the same place.

  • Healing does not happen passively. We cannot simply collect spiritual experiences and expect change. In order for change to take root, we must engage in our growth, and commit to our transformation. When we journey or receive a message or healing, a hugely important piece is what comes after.  As Sandra Ingerman points out, we don’t just visit the sacred—we bring it home, we carry it, we embody it. Are you making the changes called for? Are you practicing what is being asked by the soul part wanting to come home? As part of the work I do, I make myself available to help you to continue to connect-the-dots of your experience, as needed.

  • Shamanic healing works in the energetic and spiritual realms, and its effects vary from person to person. Some people feel lighter, more grounded, or reconnected to themselves. Others may feel emotions arise or memories resurface that want more care or integration. Often, a quiet sense of peace or rightness begins to settle in—a feeling of coming home to yourself.

This work isn’t a quick fix, but a path of reconnection: to your inner spirit, to the guidance of compassionate allies, and to your natural state of wholeness.
